Job Description

Clyde-Savannah Central School District is looking for junior varsity girls’  basketball coach who is interested in furthering the district mission of educating, inspiring, and  empowering our learners to unlock their potential in order to meet the challenges in an  ever-changing world. This qualified individual will be able to maintain good public relations with  students, parents, community, and media. Additionally, they will serve as a positive role model  and provide guidance to develop student-athletes physically, intellectually, emotionally, socially,  and culturally. Clyde-Savannah has a rich athletic history, and we are looking for an individual  who will assist in honoring that history, while bringing growth and development to our current  programs. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES/EXPECTATIONS: 

• Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions that promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, and good sportsmanship.
• Demonstrate knowledge of and adhere to and keep abreast of rules and regulations set forth by the NYSPHSAA.
• Monitor and enforce student academic eligibility criteria for extracurricular participation.
• Work with the athletic director in scheduling competitions and coordinating arrangements.
• Cooperate with other members of the school staff in planning and implementing instructional  goals and objectives for the overall educational development of student-athletes.
• Assist in the selection of equipment and instructional materials.
• Assume responsibility for compiling, maintaining, and filing all reports, records, and other  documents required.
• Comply with policies established by federal and state laws, State Board of Education rules,  and the local board.
• Support, assist, and work collaboratively with our Clyde-Savannah youth and community  athletic programs. Additionally, assist in the development of camps, clinics, open gyms, and  meet and greet opportunities with players, parents, and coaches within the C-S community.
• Develop and establish a comprehensive off-season strength training program to prepare  student-athletes for the season.
• Assist in the development of a wide variety of outside activities with the goal of attracting  players to join the program (camps, meet and greets, and offseason activities).
• Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions, to promote individual  growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship.
• Establish and share expectations prior to the start of the season with all assistant coaches.
• Daily written practice plans to help organize practice time to provide both individual and team  development.
• Take all necessary precautions to protect student-athletes, equipment, and facilities, including  protecting students from hazing/bullying.
• Assist student-athletes with opportunities to play at the next level.
• Follow established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury.
• Represent the CSCSD and the athletic program in a professional manner.

Job Qualifications

 •    Experience in coaching basketball at the high school level preferred
 •    Valid driver’s license
 •    Appropriate coaching certifications
